I've been a fan of this band since the early 90s. Too bad they broke up.

Religion and Evil
Posted on 14:24 by Unknown
"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
~Steven Weinberg
This is why I don't like religious whack-jobs. When they're killing their kids because they think their god will take care of it; when they incite violence in the name of a Jewish-Zombie Sky God and when they burn and hang a dog because it chewed on a Bible (as if her god's really that concerned with one copy of a book). She needs to rot in jail for the protection of us all!

Subway breakfast
Posted on 12:07 by Unknown
So, Subway's been marketing the breakfast sandwiches all over the place recently, yet I've never tried one. I usually stop into a Subway once a week or so for a $5 footlong and while talking to the guys, the sandwich artists, I always mention I want to try one. So, the other day I'm in there and they have the $1 off coupons laying around and I grab a couple thinking it will be an reason to stop in a grab one of those sandwiches. At $2-$2.50 with a dollar off (total was $2.50 with a couple of cookies) isn't too bad.
This morning I decide to stop in there. Not only did I get a choice of sandwich, but I got a choice of regular eggs or egg-white only, cheese of choice and any of the normal Subway sandwich toppings I wanted.
That was a good sandwich. I highly approve of them and as a fat guy you know I know good food. :D

Good Friday (not the Catholic kind)
Posted on 11:50 by Unknown
Has it been a good day so far? I woke up this morning and went to the gym. Afterwards I took the dogs to the park and got to hang out with Hot Crystal (Hot Crystal is awesome!). I was supposed to go to CoSprings and photograph a sheepdog trial but on the way to I find a German Shepherd on the side of the road looking lost. She was just sniffing around dragging a leash along behind her. I stopped and grabbed her, she hadno name tags just a vet vaccine tag on her collar. So I take her to her vet who looks up the owner's information and the number on record is disconnected. The vet's assistant gives me the address and as I drive to the neighborhood the German Shepherd, Booboo, starts getting very excited. Her owner is at home looking for his dog: Booboo. He says he dropped the leash while walking to the dumpster and slipped on the ice. He offers me a reward and I mention I don't need a reward I need a job. So, he offers me a job. Nothing serious, but pay, benefits and convenient hours. I may have to consider it. The card he hands me says something about traffic stops and I ask him if he's a lawyer. He's not, but he wrote a 80 page book on how to take the ticket to court and win. I'm going to court next week over a speeding ticket.
Has today been a good day, so far?

The Divorced Barbie Doll ? ? One day a father gets out of work and on his way home he suddenly remembers that it's his daughter's birthday. He pulls over to a Toy Shop and asks the sales person, 'How much for one of those Barbie's in the display window?'
The salesperson answers, 'Which one do you mean, Sir? We have: Work Out Barbie for $19.95, Beach Barbie for $19.95, Disco Barbie for $19.95, Ballerina Barbie for $19.95, Astronaut Barbie for $19.95 and Divorced Barbie for $265.95'.
The amazed father asks: 'It's what?! Why is the Divorced Barbie $265.95 and the others only $19.95?' The annoyed salesperson rolls her eyes, sighs, and answers: 'Sir..., Divorced Barbie comes with: Ken's Car, Ken's House, Ken's Boat, Ken's Furniture, Ken's Computer, one of Ken's Friends, and a key chain made with Ken's balls.
Business Proposal
Posted on 13:20 by Unknown
Last week a friend of mine whom I've worked with in the past asked me about federal contracts. Specifically, as a veteran, did I have a better chance at being awarded a federal contract than he would as a non-veteran owned business.
Yes, I would. He then asked me if there was some way I could prove I was a veteran, to which there is -- a DD214.
He then explained he heard about a federal contract coming up for proposal requests from a company he has not worked with in the past, who cold-called him to see if he wanted to submit a proposal for the contract. So, he wanted to know if he could get a better inside line by putting me on the payroll and claiming veteran's status.
Instead I told him to talk to, and arranged a meeting with, another company I have done business with in the past that has only worked federal contracts and is a disable-veteran owned business. As a disabled-veteran Gus business, Gus automatically gets to the top of the list for consideration of the contract and he has a strong history of providing services to the DoD with positive results.
It seemed like a match made in heaven: my friend Gus submits for and manages the contract then hires my other friend as a subcontractor to perform the duties to which he has been doing for more than 20 years here in the Denver area. Or, a company with a good history of obtaining and delivering on federal contracts and a company with a proven history in the field.
Today, my friend, the owner of the first company, called and said he was going to partner with the company he's never worked with before because he thinks they have a better chance of being awarded the contract as they're a larger company. I didn't like it, but I understand it to a point. I was vouching for the other company that I have worked with in the past, who has a history of receiving federal contracts. Heck, I was vouching for both of them to each other!
However, he still wants my friend Gus to do all the leg work to get him (and the other company) the contract. He wants Gus to put together the proposal and administer the contract, but doesn't want to pay him or me for it. I was flabbergasted! He doesn't want to partner up, choosing instead to partner with a company he's never worked with in the past, but still wants my connections and Gus' experience without paying for them.
I'm thinking about submitting for the contract anyway and either sub-contracting it out to another company or hiring him at a much lower rate than he would have gotten.
I'm so friggin frustrated right now!
I ask myself all the time how this guy's in business. Aside from giving the cart away with the horse all the time, I can't imagine why companies hire him.

Ohio school board fires teacher in crosses case - Yahoo! News
Posted on 14:27 by Unknown
A good one for Ohio's school board. This teacher's actions are not productive for a secular school and violate the separation of church and state clause of the Constitution.
Don't get me wrong, I fully believe that differing points of view should be discussed as an educational point, but to brand student with a cross? This teacher should be by the parents.

standing when I took this picture.

Morale
Posted on 20:18 by Unknown
"People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing."
~Dale Carnegie
And yet, when sitting in an interview and asked what I feel is one of the most important aspects of creating a team of individuals who will be solid performers I always get a dirty look when I include morale as a needed aspect to a productive team. You know, it worked in the Army and it works in corporate environments: a happy worker is a productive worker. When you brow-beat and micromanage people find reasons to not perform to their utmost ability but rather they visit Facebook, Twitter how they hate their jobs and take longer breaks.
I'm not saying managers and employers have to acquiesce to the needs of their employees, but a little morale goes a long way. Something simple like catering lunch once in a while, doughnut days or something equally simple but morale building.
Of course, a day of laser-tag or another random act of kindness doesn't hurt either.

Straight out of a cheesey romance novel, or what?
He grasped me firmly but gently just above my elbow and guided
me into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we were
alone.
He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low,
reassuring voice close to my ear.
"Just relax."
Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused
hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my
calves slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew
I should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care. His touch was so
experienced, so sure.
When his hands moved up onto my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and
partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt his knowing
fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage. And then, as he cupped my firm,
full breasts in his hands, I inhaled sharply. Probing,
searching, knowing what he wanted, he brought his hands to my shoulders,
slid them down my tingling spine and into my panties.
Although I knew nothing about this man, I felt oddly trusting and
expectant. This is a man, I thought. A man used to taking charge. A
man not used to taking `no' for an answer. A man who would tell me
what he wanted. A man who would look into my soul and say ...
"Okay, ma'am," said a voice. "All done."
My eyes snapped open and he was standing in front
of me, smiling, holding out my purse.
"You can board your flight now......" :)
